We're taking down the tree stand we built 15 years ago. It got pretty rotten and unsafe.
This is one of two new tree stands we built and put up today. The new ones have a top for wind protection plus they have a metal bar to keep the hunter from falling off.
I thought after my son and I built these, it would be nice to show people how we built them.
I'll just show you how we built the, you can do it the way you want. We used treated lumber on the base and the ladder. The upper plywood sides are not treated.
I picked up some 1" tubing at a local salvage place that came out of some old bleachers. I had a couple sheets of steel laying around my shop so I cut out some plates and welded the tubing to it. That way you can't fall out of the tree. It also allowed me to bolt the plywood to the sides for wind protection.
